Purpose of role:
A voluntary position responsible for administrative matters for the CILIP North East Regional Member Network Committee
Knowledge, Experience and Attributes
Essential:
- Membership of CILIP
- Knowledge of the information profession through work in a library, KM or related service area within the last two years
- Communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- Experience of planning and delivering events
Responsibilities:
- To be the contact for CILIP North East Member Network Committee (CILIP NE), receiving and responding to correspondence as appropriate including regularly checking the Secretary email account.
- To attend and service committee meetings and AGMs in arranging meetings in advance, preparing agendas with appropriate documentation in a timely manner before each meeting, circulating minutes promptly after meetings, and ensuring these are uploaded to the shared CILIP NE Google Drive.
- In conjunction with other officers organise the AGM and produce the yearly business plan and annual report.
- Work with other committee members to coordinate, organise and publicise events, organised on behalf of the CILIP NE.
- To keep informed and advise the Committee on issues relating to regulations, and guidance governing Member Networks.
- To undertake appropriate administrative tasks such as keeping the CILIP NE Google Drive organised, maintaining effective records for CILIP NE and managing the committee JISC mailing list.
- To liaise with CILIP Member Networks and inform them of any changes to Officer and Committee roles.
- To promote the membership and benefits of the Member Network and CILIP within the library and information profession.
Time Commitment
- It is anticipated that you attend all committee meetings (up to 6 per year) including the Annual General Meeting.
- Most meetings are currently held online. We have an in person planning meeting each summer.
- Committee members are expected to be proactive and to participate in committee discussions between meetings and events.
- The amount of time this role takes up will vary and may be 1-4 hours per week and during certain times of the year may increase.
