Webinar: In the Library with the Data Protection Act (Privacy Skills part 2)

We are delighted to welcome back Aude Charillon to lead our second webinar on Privacy Skills.

Date/time: Nov 16th 2021 - 12:30pm-2pm

Book your place now!

As library and information staff, we make a commitment to "uphold, promote and defend: [...] the confidentiality of information provided by clients or users and the right of all individuals to privacy" (from: CILIP Ethics). Protecting users' right to privacy usually translates into matters of data protection, but not solely.

In this webinar, we will discuss:

  • the main requirements of the UK GDPR;
  • reviewing your data collection and data retention practices;
  • informing citizens about what we do with their data;
  • working with library software and resources suppliers;
  • offering privacy literacy classes and privacy-friendly tools.

This webinar will not be recorded.

Cost: free for CILIP members; £25 for non-member

Presenter: Aude Charillon

After several years in a public library service, Aude now works as a Customer Services Consultant at PTFS Europe, supporting libraries in using open source software such as the Koha library management system. She is the lead author of Leading the way – a guide to privacy for public library staff published by the Carnegie UK Trust and CILIP in 2018.
